So they were chanting every day. They have this one boo, do I call this Sutra book ? It has a thick cover in front and the back and papers are like accordion. The words are written both side in Kanji ( one kind of letters in Japanese, there are three kinds of letters we use – Hiragana, Katakana and Kanji. )

It sounds like they are singing a song.. yes its a music – because they take a rythm with Mokugyo – woodblock. Mokugyo means wood fish because this wood block is curved like fish. And also use a bell. Both are to hit. They chant while hitting Mokugyo like pok pok pok pok ( at least it sounds like that to me) and time by time they hit the bell. Tiiiiiinggggggggg and continue chanting.

Once I was seriously thinking, this daily activities are like kind of “meditation” . And it was bringing the same effects like modulating neural activity and enhancing the mental well-being and alpha brain oscillations too.

Grand children often gathered and sat around them to chant together, tried to copy what they say but we couldnt sit still for long and one by one walked away and went back to play.

I shall start to introduce that chanting from today.
