Recently, I have quit my job without finding how to earn my living next. Do I have so much saving I don’t need to work ? Never. I have to earn. So why I quit such a good job.. wait, what is a good job ?

The job was paying me quite a good money, much more than the average salary here in Japan. The money came in to the bank account every month without fail ( of course there are people behind who work and make it happen ) . I have been in this profession for >20 years and I was very good at it.

However, there are something against my basic principle and I couldn’t change that in the company. Maybe my way of trying to bring in the change was, not tactful enough.

I was part of the top management of Multinational company who operates in Japan.

The way multinational company hire people is different from Japanese companies. As i mentioned before, majority is still, Japanese companies hire the people for the company and not for the position and gloom people to be a main pillar to support the company while multinational companies are hiring people for position and people may hop the job to upgarde themselves.

Each one of us has the life. So as all employees.. Our company operate because we have each one of the employee and we cannot run without them. The working environment should be something people respect each other regardless of the position. People are not consumables. Hire and fire is not normal here

So I had to thought it over and over… my money against my principle. Finally, I have decided to leave. Maybe I was naive and did not know the reality – the life without the job.

According to National Tax Agency (*1), average annual wage of year 2024 is JPY 4.58 mil. Male is JPY 5.63mil and female is JPY 3.14 mil. For the gender wage gap in Japan, I shall talk about this difference between male and female one day.
